Local Spirit Medals at Inaugural New Zealand Spirits Awards!
It’s official Lavender Hill is one of the best in class having been awarded two silver medals at the NZ Spirits Awards.
We are just thrilled to be medalled for both our Saffron Gin and Limoncello and really feel this has put us squarely on the map,” said Jason Delamore, owner of Lavender Hill.
Lavender Hill has been operating under the ownership of Jason and Trish Delamore for just over 3 year and has expanded from Auckland’s largest commercial lavender farm and tourism operation to include boutique spirits with a connection to the farm.
The hand crafted Limoncello uses Yen Ben lemons from the farm and Lavender Hill partnered with a farm in Nelson which provides 100% organic NZ saffron for the Saffron Infused Gin. In addition to these two products there is also a very popular Lavender Infused Gin made from Angustifolia Lavender on the farm. All the boutique spirits have earned 93/100 and 5 stars from Wine Orbit.
The inaugural Awards, hosted by industry bodies, Spirits New Zealand and Distilled Spirits Aotearoa, received 254 entries from both local and international distilleries. The Awards saw seven of 13 trophies won by New Zealand distilleries.
41% of overall Awards entries were from New Zealand producers. 221 bronze, silver, gold and double gold medals were won, and 90 of those were awarded to New Zealand distilleries.
